The country’s oldest political party is celebrating its 134th raising day today. Congress President Rahul Gandhi hoisted the flag at the party headquarters on this occasion. During Congress Foundation Day, many senior party leaders including former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh were present there. Rahul Gandhi and Manmohan Singh also cut the cake on Congress Foundation Day.

Significantly, the Congress is in full swing by defeating Bharatiya Janata Party in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan. Prior to the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, it is being seen as a big boost for the party.

Congress Foundation Day: 28 December 1885

Let us tell you that Congress was formed in the year 1885 in the British Raj. Among his founders, grandfathers like Dada Bhai Naoroji, Ao Hume and Dinsha Prabha were included. When the country got independence in 1947, then Congress became the first major political party in the country.

From the independence to the 16 general elections held in 2016, the Congress had won with 6 full majorities. Apart from this, four times the Congress led coalition governments at the center. So far, seven Prime Ministers of the country were from the Congress side. The first number was Jawahar Lal Nehru and recently Manmohan Singh.

The 2014 general election was the worst election for the Congress. The Congress reduced to just 44 seats. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) formed the government with the full majority in the lead of the Modi wave.

The Congress continued to lose in the states since 2014. But the party is in the midst of winning a win in Punjab then Karnataka. Now, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh. Before going to the Lok Sabha elections of 2019, Congress is totally aggressive. The party’s attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi led by Rahul Gandhi continues.
